Shkoromny Viktor Petrovych

1946

Ukrainian choral conductor, People's Artist of Ukraine, professor, artistic director and chief conductor of the Platon Maiboroda Academic Choir (1986-2009), general director, artistic director and chief conductor of the National Honored Bandura Choir (since 2010).
Biography.

He was born in the village of Petrovo, Kirovohrad region. At the age of 6, he moved with his parents, geologists, to the village of Solonytsia, Kozelshchyna district, Poltava region, where he graduated from school with a medal. After that, he entered the conducting and choral department of the Mykola Lysenko Poltava Music College.

In 1968, after the army, he returned to the third year of the school, but upon completion of this course he immediately entered the Kyiv Conservatory.

From his first year, he was invited as a singer and choirmaster by conductor Viktor Ikonnyk and collaborated with him in the Kyiv Chamber Choir from 1973 to 1985.

Since 1986, he has been the artistic director and chief conductor of the P. Maiboroda Academic Choir of the National Radio Company of Ukraine.

In 1991, Viktor Skoromnyi returned to the Kyiv Chamber Choir and worked in parallel in the two choirs for about a year and a half.

He is a professor of the Department of Choral Conducting at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, and has been working there since 1998.

In 2010, he headed the National Honored Bandura Choir of Ukraine.
