Biography.
In 1947, he was deported with his family to the western lands of Poland. In 1954, he graduated from the Pedagogical Lyceum and at the same time from the music school in Gozów. In 1956, while working as a music teacher in the Zelenohiria region, he began his creative work as an aspiring composer. In 1961, he entered the Higher School of Music in Warsaw, graduating in 1966 with a degree in conducting.
1972-1983 Conductor and co-composer of the men's choir of the Ukrainian social and cultural society "Zhuravly".
For his achievements in the development of Ukrainian musical art, he was awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit, the Silver Cross of Merit, and the Gold Award of the Polish Union of Choirs and Orchestras.
Biography.
From an early age, he was fond of Lemko folk songs, recorded them, and prepared a master's thesis based on his own collection. His arrangements of Lemko songs were published for several years on the Lemko page of Nashe Slovo. He collected and recorded the melodies of more than three thousand songs, and published about 800 of them.
He worked with various choirs, and achieved particular success with the men's choir of the Ukrainian socio-cultural society "Zhuravly" (co-composer and director of the choir) and the mixed choir "Duma".
He composed 15 vocal music pieces to the texts of E. Samokhvalenko, B.-I. Antonych. He has arranged 55 Ukrainian folk songs for mixed and male choirs. He co-organized six Ukrainian festivals. In 1977, he founded the Ukrainian Youth Choir in Warsaw, which he directed until the end of his life. He visited Lviv with the choir.
