1941

Ukrainian composer and opera master. Laureate of the Shevchenko Prize (1986). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1989). People's Artist of Ukraine (1997). Hero of Ukraine (2021). Member of the NSKU.

Biography

He was born in the city of Frunze (now Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) in the family of a military personnel during the evacuation. After the son graduated from the II SV, the family returned to Ukraine, where in 1957 Igor graduated from secondary school No. 4 in the city of Ternopil and at the same time from a seven-year music school in the piano class. In the same 1957, he began studying at the historical and theoretical department of the KIM named after Gliera. After completing the third year, Poklad transferred to the composition faculty of the Kyiv State Conservatory, the class of Professor A. Ya. Shtogarenko, which he graduated in 1967.

While still studying at the school and working there as a concertmaster, he took the first serious steps in his creativity - the first song, written by him in co-authorship with Boris Oliynyk "The song does not get lost", performed by Kostyantyn Ogniev, became popular.

In 1966, officials of the Ministry of Culture approached Poklad with a proposal to organize a girls' singing group. Ihor Poklad creates a unique project for those times - vocal-instrumental ensemble "Dream". Already in the first year of its existence, the collective entered the all-Union touring network. In a few years, "Mriya" becomes a laureate of the All-Union Competition of pop artists, along with the legendary "Songs" at that time. In 1968, Poklad was forced to stop managing the collective due to his departure to the ranks of the Soviet Army. In the army, he met Yuriy Rybchynskyi, a budding poet, later the master of Ukrainian song. Together they create several famous hits and become widely known.

During the Russian invasion of 2022, his house was mined by the occupiers.
Theatrical creativity

In 1973, Ihor Dmytrovych decided to try his hand at the theater, he agreed to the offer to start work on the continuation of the musical play "Wedding in Malynivka". With the finished piece, he and Rybchinsky arrived at the Odesa Operetta Theater. The decision to adopt the version of the Deposit was made unanimously and almost instantly.

The next work of the opera master was "The Witch of Konotop", written in 1982, this operetta is still not leaving the stages of Ukrainian theaters. According to theater critics, this play has long since become a classic of the genre. In just a few years, a dozen more musicals appeared.
In the cinema

In search of new impressions, Poklad worked in the field of cinematography, starting a collaboration with director Leonid Bykov and writing music for one of his films, "Where are you, knights?". In total, the composer worked in more than 40 feature films. Ihor Dmytrovych considered refusing to work in the film "Only "old men" go to battle" to be his most regrettable mistake. The composer also wrote the music for the classic cartoons "Like the Cossacks..." and "Aeneid".

In the new times, ambitious creative projects had to be canceled due to a lack of funds. In 2014, he underwent several complex operations. For some time he cooperated with the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the DPSU. In 2022, he survived the Russian occupation and was evacuated along with many other residents of Vorzel.
