Mykhailo Kryven (born 20 July 1954 in Lipivka, Rohatyn district, Ivano-Frankivsk region) is a People's Artist of Ukraine, professor at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
Biography.
Born in the picturesque Opillya village of Lypivka in Rohatyn district, Mykhailo fell in love with song from an early age and managed to carry it through his life. The love of song was instilled in young Mykhailo by his mother Sofia, who constantly sang, and it was she who sent him to the Rohatyn Music School to study the violin.
He graduated from Rohatyn School No. 1 and the Lviv College of Culture, choir department. At the Lviv State Conservatory, he studied singing with People's Artist, outstanding opera singer, Professor Pavlo Karmaliuk.
After that, he worked at the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Carpathian Military District and the Ivano-Frankivsk Music and Drama Theatre. Four years later, he joined the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Philharmonic. He was a solo vocalist of the chamber orchestra.
Since 1998, he has been teaching at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University, and since 2001, he has been a professor at the Department of Theatre Arts at the Institute of Arts of Precarpathian University.
He was the first professional singer in the Carpathian region to boldly sing Ukrainian national masterpieces in 1990 ("Oh, in the meadow there is a red viburnum", "Sad, trembita", "Arise, Ukraine!"), as well as the National Anthem of Ukraine.

Oleksandr's wife also loves to sing and has a good ear and voice.
Sons: Volodymyr is a musician, but now works outside his speciality; Yurii is a journalist. They are raising grandchildren Olya and Andrii.
Honours
Titles: Honoured Artist of Ukraine in 1989, People's Artist of Ukraine in 1996.
Winner of the Myroslav Irchan Prize (1988), Vasyl Stefanyk Prize in Literature and Arts (2001).
