Biography.
I.S. Hyshka began his career and performing activities while studying at the Ivano-Frankivsk Music College (1963-1967). Immediately after graduation in 1967, he was called up for military service, which he served for 2 years in the Orchestra of the Headquarters of the Carpathian Military District in 1967-1969. In 1969, he entered the Lviv State Conservatory and graduated in 1974. While studying at the conservatory, Ihor Hyshka simultaneously worked in various professional creative groups. In 1972, as a result of a competition, he won a place as a soloist in the orchestra of the Lviv Opera and Ballet Theater. Then, during 1973-1977, he worked as a soloist of the Staff Orchestra and the Ensemble of the Central Group of Troops in Czechoslovakia, recorded at the Supraphon recording studio, and performed on Czechoslovakian television. In 1975, in Prague, he was awarded the Honorary Award of the Union of Czechoslovak-Soviet Friendship, second degree, for his active creative work.
From 1977 to 1992, the musician held the position of concertmaster of the trumpet group of the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra. He received the qualification of "Orchestra Artist of the highest category". He worked with prominent national and foreign conductors and soloists - M. Kolesa, S. Turchak, Y. Luciw, I. Pain, D. Pelekhaty, K. Kondrashyn, F. Mansurov, V. Baley, E. de Maury, B. d'Astoli and many others. Many conductors noted Igor Gyshka's high performing skills with memorable wishes and inscriptions on posters, concert programs, photographs, and record envelopes. Along with his professional concert and performance career, Ihor Hyshka was active in teaching. From 1977 to 2001, I. Hyshka taught trumpet at the Children's Music School No. 2, and from 1990 to 2001 at the Department of Variety Music at the Lviv State Music College named after S. P. Lyudkevych.
From 1993 to the present, he has been working at the Department of Musical Art of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy. In 2005, he defended his PhD thesis on "The Sound-Creating Component of Trumpet Performance: Traditions and Basing" and received the degree of Candidate of Arts. In the same year, he received a Doctor of Philosophy of Music Art degree, and in 2007, by the decision of the Certification Board of the Ministry of Education and Science, he was awarded the academic title of associate professor. Since 2006, for several years, I. Gyshka has been working as an associate professor (part-time) at the Department of Wind and Percussion Instruments of the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy. He regularly participates and conducts master classes at various scientific seminars and conferences, works as a member of the jury of national and international competitions and festivals in Ukraine and abroad. I. S. Gyshka is an active research and teaching fellow, for many years he was a member of the Academic Council of the National Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi, in 2015 he was appointed to the Editorial Board of the Collection of Scientific Papers of Rivne State University of the Humanities. In May 2019, he was admitted to the National All-Ukrainian Music Union.
He is the author of the world's first method of forming a trumpet embouchure based on bazing, and the first monograph in Ukraine on the theory and methodology of teaching trumpet playing, published in English. He has published three monographs, three textbooks (including one with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science), holds 12 copyright certificates, and has published more than 70 scientific and popular science articles. Associate Professor Gyshka's pupils, students and cadets have repeatedly won prizes in solo and ensemble nominations at national and international competitions and festivals. Many of them are now successfully working in Ukraine, Poland, Italy and Portugal as musicians and teachers.
