Borys Mykolaiovych Buyevskyi (born 7 June 1935, Kryvyi Rih) is a Soviet and Ukrainian composer, author of 10 symphonies, ballets Song of the Blue Sea (1965) and Ustym Karmeliuk (1980), music for a cartoon about Cossacks and many pop songs popular in the 1960s and 1970s: "There is a Fog in the Valley", "My Love", "Carpathian Night", "Song of Loyalty", "Give Me Spring", etc.
Biography
He graduated from the Music School at the Leningrad Conservatory and the Kharkiv Conservatory (1959, composition class of Professor Dmytro Klebanov).

In 1959-1961 he taught at the Donetsk Music College.

He is the author of 10 symphonies, ballets "Song of the Blue Sea" (1965; 1st performance - 1966, Odesa) and "Ustym Karmeliuk" (3 concerts for strings, 1980), vocal cycles based on poems by W. Shakespeare, P. Verlaine, R. Burns, more than 100 songs, music for dramatic performances, overtures, concerts; vocal and symphonic oratorio "Travels of the Heart" based on the words of Lina Kostenko and Tamara Kolomiets (1964).

He is the author of music for many feature films, animated films and documentaries.

Member of the Union of Composers of Ukraine since 1961.

In 1960-1993 he lived in Kyiv, since 1993 he has been living in Belgium.
