Atamanets Ivan

Atamanets Ivan (1882, according to other sources - 1886, Nizhni Lubianky village, now Zbarazh district, Ternopil region - 13 December 1985, Hamtramck, Michigan, USA) - Ukrainian conductor, public and cultural figure.

Biography.
Since 1913 - in the United States.

In 1926, he founded the Ukrainian National Choir "Dumka" in Detroit, with which he performed in the United States and Canada until 1953.

He also directed the Ukrainian school, brass band, and the Mykola Lysenko Choir.

He is the honorary chairman of the Ukrainian Studies Committee at the University of Illinois.
