Antonenko Nikolay Ivanovich

Mykola Antonenko (* 16 March 1953, Simferopol) is a conductor and director. People's Artist of Ukraine (1999). Laureate of the State Prize of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (1994). Graduated from the Moscow Gnesin Music and Pedagogical Institute in 1977. Since 1979, he has been the chief conductor of the Crimean Ukrainian Theatre of Drama and Musical Comedy, and since 1991, he has been the artistic director of the Crimean Chamber Theatre (Simferopol). Antonenko is a regular director of international festivals in Crimea. Among his musical performances: operettas "Spanish Rhapsody" by V. Ilyin (1986, premiere), "Fountain of Love" (1982) and oratorio "Mass of Chersonese" (1995, premiere) by A. Karamanov; opera "The Apothecary" (1984) by J. Haydn.
