Zuev Alexander Ivanovich

1950-2006

Oleksandr Ivanovych Zuiev (b. August 30, 1950, Makiivka, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, USSR - d. October 31, 2006, Bucha, Kyiv Oblast) was a Ukrainian composer. Laureate of the Republican Komsomol Prize named after M. Ostrovsky (1978) and the Third Festival of Youth of Ukraine (1979).
He was born on August 30, 1950 in Makiivka, Donetsk region.

He graduated from the composition faculty of the Kyiv Conservatory (1974, class of Yuriy Ishchenko). He led the Kobza and Kalyna ensembles, and was a concertmaster at the Kyiv Variety and Circus School (1970-1976). Since 1977, he has been working as an artist.

1978 - delegate to the XX111th Congress of the Komsomol of Ukraine.

Author of music for chronicle-documentary and television films.

Member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.

His songs, in addition to Kobza and Kalyna, were performed by Raisa Kyrychenko, Kostiantyn Ognevyi, Mykola Hnatiuk, Tetiana Rusova, Lidiia Mykhailenko, Oleksandr Serov, Mykhailo Slywotskyi, the Medobory, Kraiany, Malvy ensembles, and the Yugoslavian Vocal and Dance Group Leaders of Belgrade.

In the last years of his life, he was seriously ill. The composer died on October 31, 2006 in Bucha hospital. He was buried in the city cemetery of Irpin, near Kyiv[1][2][3].
