Zubytskyi Volodymyr Danylovych

1953

Ukrainian composer and performer (accordionist). Son of a herbalist, father of flutist Stanislav Zubytskyi.
Biography.

Graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory as an accordionist (class of Prof. Volodymyr Besfamilnov, 1976), as a composer (class of Prof. M. Skoryk, 1977) and as a symphony conductor with Prof. Volodymyr Kozhukhar and Vadym Hnedash (1979).

As an accordionist, he was awarded the IMC-UNESCO Coupe mondiale for his performance of the miniature requiem "Seven Tears" at the International Competition of Accordionists and Accordionists in Helsinki (Finland, 1975). At the International Composition Competition in Poland (1985) he was awarded third prize for his Requiem "Sette lacrime". His "Carpathian Suite", "Concert Partitas" Nos. 1 and 2, "Bulgarian Diary" and Sonata No. 2 "Slavic" were included in the programs of leading performers.

His compositions include operas (the most famous are "Chamber No. 6" (after A. Chekhov) "The Milky Way" (1983); ballet "Danube Amusements" (1985); cantatas-symphonies "Milky Songs" (1982, based on folk songs), "Ocean of Destiny" (1986, based on poems by Charles Baudelaire); seven symphonies; chamber symphonies; works for orchestra of Ukrainian folk instruments, for accordion; choirs, etc. In 1986 he was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the Ukrainian SSR.

He also performs as a conductor of his own works.

He lives in Italy.
