Zlatohorova Bronislava Yakivna

1905-1995

Soviet opera singer (contralto), teacher. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1951). Soloist of the Ukrainian State Metropolitan Opera (1926-1929) and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow (1929-1953).

Biography.

Born in 1905 in the village of Oleksandrivka (now Myronivka district, Kyiv region).

Studied at the Odesa Folk Conservatory in 1921-1922, graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (1926; teachers Olena Muraviova and Oleksandra Sperling).

In 1926-1929, she was a soloist at the Ukrainian State Metropolitan Opera in Kharkiv, and in 1929-1953, she was a soloist at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.

Since 1963, she has been a teacher at the People's Singing School in Moscow.

She had a luscious velvety contralto of noble timbre, sounding especially expressive in the lower register. She was distinguished by vivid acting characteristics.

Performed the roles of:

Vanya, Ratmir ("Life for the Tsar", "Ruslan and Lyudmila" by M. Glinka);
Lyubasha (The Tsar's Bride by Rimsky-Korsakov);
Olga, the Countess (Eugene Onegin, The Guilty Beauty by P. Tchaikovsky);
Aksinya (The Quiet Don by I. Dzerzhinsky),
Konchakivna (Prince Igor by A. Borodin);
"Carmen (opera by G. Bizet);
Azucena ("Il Trovatore" by G. Verdi);
Ningal-Umi (Zahmuk) by O. Crane.

She died on August 3, 1995 and was buried at the New Don Cemetery in Moscow.
