Pavlo Mykolaiovych Zibrov (born 22 June 1957, Chervone, Nemyriv district, Vinnytsia region) is a Soviet and Ukrainian pop singer (baritone), composer. People's Artist of Ukraine.
Biography and career
Pavlo Zibrov was born on 22 June 1957 in the village of Chervone, Vinnytsia region, to a Bulgarian father, Nikolai Ivanovich Zibrov, and a Ukrainian mother, Anna Kirillovna Zibrova. According to the artist himself, he has Bulgarian, Slovak and Russian blood in addition to Ukrainian, but he considers himself a Ukrainian "both by passport and spirit". His mother worked as a teacher, his father had 40 specialities and was a jack of all trades. He also had an older brother, Volodymyr Zibrov. The singer himself recalls that their surname used to be pronounced with an accent on the first syllable (Zibrov), but over time, everyone started pronouncing it Zibrov.
At the age of 9, he entered the Mykola Lysenko Music Boarding School for Gifted Children without a competition and studied to become a cellist and double bassist.
In 1974, he created the band Yavir with his classmates, which a year later became a laureate of the Republican Competition in Kerch.
At the age of 20, he entered the Tchaikovsky Kyiv Conservatoire, studying double bass. While still a student, he began working in the State Variety and Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
After graduating from the conservatoire, he served in the Soviet army, namely, in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Kyiv Military District. In 1982, he had to visit hot spots, including Afghanistan.
At the age of 27, he entered the conservatoire for the second time, studying at the classical vocal faculty.
In 1986-1993, he was a soloist with the State Variety and Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
In 1986, he became a laureate of the Republican Competition, and a year later, in 1987, he became a laureate of the All-Union Competition and was already a soloist of the State Symphony Orchestra. He toured almost all the republics of the Soviet Union.
In 1993, he was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine.
1993 - the heyday of creative work with Yuriy Rybchynsky, who wrote the hits "Khreshchatyk", "Dead Bees Don't Buzz" and "Birthday".
1994 - Together with his wife Maryna, he created the first private song theatre in Ukraine named after Pavlo Zibrov. Director and artistic director.
In 1996, he was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
Since 1999, he began to work fruitfully with Petro Maga, and many songs came from his pen, including the hit "Vusa Brand".
At the age of 43, he received the Order of Merit, Zth Class.
Professor, lecturer at the Department of Pop Singing at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.
From 2005 to the present, he has participated in the annual award "Shlyager of the Year", has received more than 20 awards as a singer and composer.

In 2018, he turned into Professor Dumbledore in the video of the parody "Hogwarts Mood Colour".
On 13 December 2019, he released the hype song and video "Mustache Brand". In the same year, he received the Best Song of the Year and Ukrainian Song of the Year awards for his song.
On 25 August 2019, he celebrated his silver wedding anniversary with his wife Marina. A real wedding ceremony was held.
On 12 November 2019, he took part in the "Evening of Premieres with Kateryna Osadcha".
On 21 November 2019, he received the Pop star award from the Ukrainian magazine ViVa.
On 9 July 2019, he performed at one of the largest music festivals in Ukraine, Atlas Weekend.
In January 2020, he became the hero of the comic strip Cyberland.
On 11 December 2020, he received the Song of the Year award from the Music Platform for his song "Girl XL".
On 2 August 2021, he took part in the show "MasterChef. Celebrities".
On 20 March 2021, he took part in the Freddie Mercury's TV show "Lipsyncing Battle in Character".
In May 2021, he received the Family of the Year award.
On 10 May 2021, he took part in the Duet with a Star charity concert in support of inclusive children.
On 21 May 2021, he released the song and video "There is BASS" in collaboration with young performers from Lviv GLOVA&MANIN.
On 26 May 2021, he received an award for the song "We Have Everything" in the nomination "Legend of the Ukrainian Song" of the National Music Award "Ukrainian Song of the Year".
In June 2021, he was one of the judges of the show "Everyone Sings" on the Ukraine TV channel.
On 8 June 2021, the Polish gambling company Promatic released a slot machine game called Zibrov king, featuring the artist as its protagonist.
On 17 September 2021, he received the Order of St Michael the Archangel, II degree, for services to the Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the pious people from the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
On 12 October 2021, he received the Order for the Development of Ukraine.
In autumn 2021, he collaborated with the famous Ukrainian singer Anna Trincher. The new song is called "Dead Bees & Butterflies". In February 2022, it received the Ukrainian Song of the Year award.
In December 2021, Zibrov took part in the show "Mask" on Ukraina TV channel[. He was hiding behind the mask "Piglet".
On 8 December 2021, he received the Best Song of the Year award for his song "There is BASS" in collaboration with GLOVA&MANIN.
7 February 2022 - released an updated Latina version of the legendary song "Khreshchatyk".
On April 1, 2022, he took part in the online marathon "Save Ukraine" from Atlas Festival in support of Ukraine.
On 6 June 2022, he released the song "I Want to Go Home So Badly", dedicated to all Ukrainian refugees who were forced to flee their homes due to Russia's insidious war against Ukraine.
On 15-17 July 2022, he took part in the largest US festival of Ukrainian culture, Soyuzivka, in support of Ukraine in the city of Kergonkson, New York.
Personal life
His first wife, Tetiana Samofalova, left him for her student when Pavlo was 27 years old.
His second wife, Maryna Zibrova (born 25 August 1959, married 25 August 1994), works as a director and costume designer at the Pavlo Zibrov Theatre.
Son - Serhii Zibrov (born 18 June 1983) (Pavlo's son from his first marriage).
Daughter - Diana Zibrova (born 21 February 1997), works as Pavlo Zibrov's SMM and PR manager.
Foster son - Oleksandr Zibrov (born in 1982) (Marina's son from her first marriage).
Elder brother - Volodymyr Mykolaiovych Zibrov (b. 1954), Honoured Artist of Ukraine, retired colonel, served in the song and dance ensemble, works in the Pavlo Zibrov Theatre.
