Zhadan Vasyl Ivanovych

Vasyl Ivanovych Zhadan (* 6 January, 1973 in Sumy) is a Ukrainian singer, head of the national-cultural public organisation Roma, author and composer, pop performer, researcher of the ethno-cultural society of the Roma nationality.
Family.
He was born into a Roma family. His father is Ivan Zhadan, his mother is Raisa Zhadan.

Education.
1981-1988 he studied at the Sumy school № 5, 1989-1990 - at the evening school № 2.

Creative path
1989 - soloist of the vocal and instrumental ensemble "Terne Roma", which was a multiple winner of the city festival of folk art "Sumy Dawns".

1997 - 2001 Vasyl Zhadan is a member of the duet "Bakhtale", which in 1998 became a laureate of the International Television Festival "Golden Autumn of Slavutych".

2000 - V. Zhadan as a member of the duo became a laureate of the All-Ukrainian festival "Chervona Ruta".

2001 - winner of the International Television Festival "AMALA".

2007 - for the performance of the author's song "Mama" on the words of the famous poet Pavlo Skoryk received the 1st prize of the International Festival of Arts "Embrace Ukraine".

He was awarded a diploma of the Golden Rabbit International Festival of Variety Art for his outstanding performance of pop songs.

In 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2008 - 2009 - 2010 - 2011, Vasyl Zhadan represented Ukraine at the World Television Festival of Roma Creativity in Czekhochynok (Poland). He was also a representative of Ukraine at the International Festival "Gypsy Night on the Vistula" in Plock, Poland in 2006-2008.

Thanks to his hard work, he takes an active part in the creative life of the Sumy region, for which he has been repeatedly awarded diplomas of the festival laureate: "I Sing You, Magic City", "Born by Wind and Fire".

Vasyl Zhadan is a participant in many festive concert programmes in different cities of Ukraine. He won the Eastern Bazaar festival in Chornomorsk, Crimea.

He has repeatedly represented Ukraine at international festivals, where he popularised the cultural and creative heritage of Ukraine, as well as the work of the Roma nationality.

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk goes to his fights to Vasyl Zhadan's song "Brothers".

Creative achievements
The result of hard work and creative victories was the solo album "Bakhtales", which was released in 2003.

Vasyl Zhadan is the author of the following compositions written to the words of songwriters Pavlo Skoryk, Taras Say, Vitaliy Yashchenko, and Oleksandr Petukh:

These songs are constantly played and broadcast on various radio stations and TV channels in Ukraine.
