Zavalishina Maria Semenivna

1903-1991

Mariia Semenivna Zavalyshyn (December 26, 1903, St. Petersburg, Russian Empire - July 3, 1991, Kyiv (buried in Lviv), USSR) was a Soviet Ukrainian composer, conductor, musician, public figure, and teacher. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1990).
She graduated from the Odesa Conservatory (1939, class of Porfiriy Molchanov).

She was a music editor of the Odesa Radio (1935-1936), a teacher at the P. Stoliarskyi Music Decade (1937-1938), at the Odesa (1945-1951) and Kyiv Conservatories (1951-1961), and headed the Music Department of the Committee for Arts under the Council of Ministers of Ukraine (1952-1953).

She was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR, and medals.

She was a member of the Union of Composers of Ukraine.

She was buried in Lviv.

Works.
She is the author of a number of children's operas, suites, music for animated films ("Water Supply to the Garden", 1964, etc.).
