Zatsikha Vasyl

1991

At the age of 5, he began his studies at the Solomiya Krushelnytska Specialised Music Boarding School in Lviv, where he studied until the age of 17 in the class of Myroslav Sora. In 2008, under the guidance of Professor Ihor Pyliatyuk, he continued his studies at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy. Since 2015, having received a scholarship, he has been studying at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin International Music Academy under the guidance of Maksym Vengerov and Oleh Kaskiv, and since 2017 - at the Calaidos University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland).

Vasyl is the winner of more than 20 international competitions. In 2018, he won the Second Prize at the Schoenfeld International string competition (China), and in 2019 he became a semi-finalist at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, one of the world's most prestigious competitions. He also received First Prize at the Rahn Musikpreis Competition 2018 (Switzerland), Second Prize at the Premio Rodolfo Lipizer International Competition 2017 (Italy), Second Prize at the Murten Classics Violin Competition 2016 (Switzerland), prizes at the 2nd Yuriy Yankelevych International Violin Competition (2011) and the 4th Mykola Lysenko International Violin Competition (2012).

The musician is active as a soloist and member of symphony and chamber orchestras. He has been a concertmaster of various ensembles, including the Yehudi Menuhin International Music Academy Soloists, the MBS Symphony Orchestra, the Perpetuum Mobile Chamber Orchestra, the Academy Chamber Orchestra, and many others. As a soloist, he has performed with such ensembles as the Trembita Chamber Orchestra, the Lviv Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra, the INSO-Lviv Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Virtuosi of Lviv Chamber Orchestra, and the Soloists of the Yehudi Menuhin International Music Academy. He has played in the most famous concert halls in Europe and has collaborated with prominent contemporary musicians and conductors, including Yuriy Bervetsky, Maksym Vengerov, Ihor Pylyatyuk, Myroslav Skoryk, Alexis Soriano and Peter Falk.

Recently, the musician has performed in numerous concert programmes in Europe and South America. In particular, he played a concert with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Tongale Concert Hall in Zurich with conductor Patrick Hahn.
