Sigizmund Vladyslavovych Zaremba (born May 30 (June 11), 1861, Zhytomyr - November 14 (27), 1915) was a Ukrainian conductor, composer, music critic, and pianist.
Biography.
He graduated from the Law Faculty of Kyiv University and studied cello privately. He received his musical education on his own - he studied with his father, composer, pianist and teacher Vladyslav Ivanovych Zaremba, and with the author of the first Ukrainian textbook on harmony, Andriy Kazbyryuk.
He worked as the director of the music school at the Voronezh branch of the Russian Musical Society in 1896-1901, organized symphony concerts - Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony was first performed in Voronezh under his direction, and in 1901 in St. Petersburg.
He is the author of:
"Slavic Dance and Polonaise" for symphony orchestra,
the symphonic painting The Sphinx,
a suite for chamber orchestra,
string quintet, vocal and piano works,
arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs,
a cycle of songs "Hania".
