Zakharets Sergey Alexandrovich

1980

Serhii Zakharets (born 10 January 1980) is a reproductive kobzar who plays the old world bandura.
He was born on 10 January 1980. He began his studies on the Old World bandura with Vitaliy Roy, a well-known musician in Pereyaslav region and one of the founders of the kobza school. Then he studied with Mykola Tovkaylo, a student of Heorhiy Tkachenko.

In 1995, he entered the Strytiv Higher Pedagogical School of Kobza Art, where he mastered the technique of playing the Old World bandura under the guidance of V. Kushpet. He graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Arts named after I.P. Kotliarevskyi.

Since 2004, he has been a soloist of the Kyiv Bandura Chapel. Laureate of the H. Hotkevych International Competition of Ukrainian Folk Instruments.

Creative work.
Since 1991, he has been participating in various events related to folk art.

Thanks to his collaboration with Volodymyr Kushpet, he created an original repertoire based on the works of Heorhiy Tkachenko and unique examples of authentic dumas and instrumental music transcribed by Filaret Kolesa and Mykola Lysenko. His repertoire also includes arrangements reconstructed for performance and works by Hnat Khotkevych, the founder of the kobza art genre. Volodymyr Kushpet's multi-genre compositions and his own arrangements of folk songs became a logical addition to his repertoire.

In 2003, his work was recognised at the Hryhoriy Kitastyi National Kobza Art Competition, where for the first time in the history of Ukraine the nomination "traditional performers" was introduced. In the same year, he won the Grand Prix at the International Music Competition and Festival.

In 2004, Zakharets became a laureate of the II Hryhoriy Kitastyi International Kobza Art Competition and the III Hnat Khotkevych International Competition of Folk Instrument Players.
