Zahaikevich Alla Leonidovna

1966

Ukrainian composer, participant of many international festivals of modern music in Ukraine, France, Sweden, Japan, China, Russia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Canada, Germany, Poland. The author of numerous musicological articles in scientific collections and magazines in Ukraine and abroad. The owner of many grants and awards. Combines work in academic concert genres (symphonic, chamber, electroacoustic music, chamber opera) and in modern multidisciplinary projects (audio-visual installations, performances, music for films and theater performances). He performs in electroacoustic performances with performers of new improvisational music.

Biographical information

She studied at the Kyiv State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky in the class of Professor Yuri Ishchenko (1985–1990) and at the Institute for Research and Coordination of Acoustics/Music (IRCAM) in Paris (1995–1996). In 1986–1999, she was a member of the band "Drevo" (led by E. Yefremov).

Since the mid-90s, she has actively promoted academic electroacoustic music in Ukraine, collaborated with musicians of experimental electronic music.

Since 1998, she has been teaching at the Department of Music and Information Technologies of the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where she founded a studio of electroacoustic music with the assistance of the International Renaissance Foundation.

Alla Zagaykevych is the curator of the international projects of electroacoustic music "Electroacoustics" (since 2003), "EM-vision" (since 2005), the head of the Association of Electroacoustic Music under the Kyiv Organization of SCU (since 2010).

In 2004, she was awarded the National Prize of Ukraine for the music of Oles Sanin's film "Mamai". Oleksandr Dovzhenka.

In 2009, she founded the international project Electroacoustic's ensemble, where she performed as a composer, programmer, performer on electroacoustic instruments.

In 2021, the composer dedicated a concert to the memory of the conservatory teacher Oleksiy Bosenko, who influenced the formation of her worldview.
