Yusypovych Myron Ivanovych

1956

Myron Ivanovych Yusypovych (born 1956) is a Ukrainian opera and symphony conductor, member of the National Union of Theatre Workers of Ukraine (1982), Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2000).
Myron was born in 1956 in Sambir. Myron Yusypovych studied music - violin and piano, choral and symphony conducting - at the Drohobych Music School and the Lviv Conservatory. For two years he trained at the Mariinsky Theatre of Opera and Ballet in St Petersburg under the direction of Yuri Temirkanov.

Since 1982, he has been working as a conductor at the Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1994-1996 he was the theatre's chief conductor, and in 1998-2002 he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the theatre. In 2002-2007, Myron Yusypovych was the Chief Conductor of the K&K Philharmoniker Symphony Orchestra of the Austrian agency Da Capo Musikmarketing GmbH, Austria, and since 2004 he has also directed the K&K Opernchor Choir of the same agency.

Professional activity
Since starting his conducting career in 1982, Myron Yusypovych has conducted more than 50 operas, ballets and operettas. He was the musical director of such productions as Aida, Nabucco, La Traviata, Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi, Iolanta, Eugene Onegin, Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, "The Tsar's Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Romeo and Juliet by Sergei Prokofiev, La Rusticia di Figaro by Pietro Mascagni, La Pagliacci by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, and Tosca by Giacomo Puccini.

As the conductor of the Lviv Theatre, Myron Yusypovych conducted a number of successful and highly publicised tours: in Italy in 1996, in Austria and Germany in 2000, 2001 and 2002, in the Netherlands in 2001, and in Poland in 2003 and 2004. Myron Yusypovych also performs as a touring conductor with symphony and chamber orchestras. His repertoire includes more than a hundred works performed with orchestras in concerts and festivals in Ukraine and abroad.

In 2005-2007, Myron Yusypovych, working as a permanent guest conductor with the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, performed the following works, among others: Beethoven's Symphony No. 3; Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4; Mahler's Symphony No. 5; Shostakovich's Symphonies No. 8 and No. 15.

Between 2000 and 2007, Myron Yusypovych prepared 12 different projects for Da Capo Musikmarketing GmbH, Austria, and performed with K&K Philharmoniker in such European halls as the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the Concertgebouw in Berlin the Munich Philharmonic Hall and Herkulessaal - Residenzmünchen, the Old Opera House in Frankfurt, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Tongalle in Zurich, the Tivoli in Copenhagen and others.

As a touring conductor, Myron Yusypovych has also performed with orchestras in opera houses in Russia (Mariinsky in St Petersburg, 1985, 1986, 1994), Perm, Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia), Chisinau (Moldova), Kyiv, Odesa (Ukraine), Mississauga and Kitchener-Waterloo (KWS) in Canada (1997, 1998, 2001).

Works
Myron Yusypovych's recordings include: Tchaikovsky, Violin Concerto in D major, op. 35 (soloist - Stefan Sitarsky) with KWS (Canada); "Opera Choruses" I, II and III recorded with K&K Philharmoniker and K&K Opernchor at concerts in the Munich Philharmonic, Herkules Hall in the Munich Residence, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, as well as "Giuseppe Verdi - Gala" recorded live at the Concertgebouw in Dortmund.
