Yurchenko Mstislav Serhiyovych

1951

Ukrainian conductor and musicologist, professor, laureate of the award named after Mykoly Lysenko, a member of the National All-Ukrainian Music Union, the European Association of Choral Conductors "Europa-Cantat", the US Choral Conductors Association (ACDA). Researcher and popularizer of Ukrainian sacred music classics, head of the Public Association "Ukrainian Foundation of Sacred Music".
Biography

Born in Kyiv in 1951. Graduated from Kyiv State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky in 1974 in the class of prof. O. Minkivskyi. He taught at the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute named after M. Gorky, Nizhyn State Pedagogical Institute named after M. Gogol. He worked as a conductor of the Kyiv Chamber Choir under the leadership of Viktor Ikonnyk. From 1982 to 1985, he studied at the graduate school at the IMFE named after of Rila. In 1989-1991, he headed the department of "Ukrainian sacred music" of the Ukrainian-Canadian joint enterprise "Kobza". In 1987-1998 he taught at KNUKiM, in 1998-2005 at NAKKKiM, where he headed the "regent of the church choir" specialization, in 2011-2015 at Kyiv University named after Borys Grinchenko, since 2015 — at KNUKiM.
