Valentyn Vasyliovych Yefremov (23 July 1909, Mykolaiv - 1986, Odesa) was a Ukrainian conductor and teacher.
Biography.
Valentyn was born in 1909 in the city of Mykolaiv. In 1938, he graduated from the Odesa Conservatory (class of music theory and folk instruments; in 1949 - class of conducting by O. Klymov).
In 1934-1941, he was a teacher at the Odesa Music School.
From 1939 he worked at the Odesa Conservatory: head of the educational department. In 1946-1976, he was a lecturer, while in 1956-1962 he was the dean of the performing faculty. In 1941-1946, he was a part-time conductor of the Odesa Opera and Ballet Theatre, and in 1947-1949 - of the symphony orchestra of the P. Stoliarskyi Odesa Specialised Music School.
In 1949, he organised and led the orchestra of folk instruments of the Music School and Conservatory in Odesa. Associate Professor (1957).
Author of methodological developments in conducting, reading scores, and instrumentation. He has concert recordings on the radio.
Among his students were Vasyl Yevdokymov, Volodymyr Kasyanov, and V. Smolii.
He died in 1986 in Odesa.
