Vytvytskyi Yosyp Khomych

Yosyp Khomych (Joseph-Dominik) Wytvytskyi (* 1813, Volyn - † 20 February 1866, Kyiv) was a Polish and Ukrainian composer, pianist, and music teacher.
He studied music in Berdychiv with his father, an organist. He worked as a music teacher in Podillia and Volyn. In 1840-1865, he taught piano and ensemble classes at the Kyiv Institute of Noble Maidens.

In Kyiv, Yosyp Vytvytskyi composed the musical work "Ukraine" (1836), a variation on the theme of the Ukrainian folk song "All the Burlaki Gathered". He is the author of the piano works "Rowing the Dnipro", "In the Shine of the Moon" and many variations of folk songs.
