Vyshynskyi Vitaliy

Vitalii Vyshynskyi (1983, Yemilchyne, Zhytomyr region) is a Ukrainian composer, pianist, scholar, musicologist, and promoter of academic music.
He received his primary musical education at the Emilchyn Children's Music School, in 1998-2002 he studied at the Zhytomyr Music School at the piano faculty (class of N. Bodashko).
He received his higher education at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, where in 2002-2003 he studied as a pianist in the class of Mykhailo Stepanenko, and in 2003-2007 as a composer in the class of Yurii Ishchenko. In 2005, he received a scholarship from the International Wagner Society (2005, Bayreuth, Germany).

In 2007-2010, he studied at the postgraduate course of the National Music Academy of Ukraine under Larysa Neboliubova. His postgraduate work was awarded a scholarship from the President of Ukraine (2008). In 2012, he received a PhD in Art History. In 2012-2019, he worked at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, and since 2017 he has been working at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. In 2014-2015, as a music promoter (lecturer), he collaborated with the open lecture "Sound" by OK'projects at the Closer art centre (Kyiv). Since 2014, he has been a lecturer and curator of music programmes at the Cultural Project educational organisation (Kyiv). Since 2016, he has been collaborating with the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School. He is a member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine (2011), winner of the L. Revutsky State Prize (2015).

The composer's oeuvre includes orchestral, instrumental and vocal works of various genres, as well as stage music for theatre performances. His music is characterised by intellectualism, intertextuality, polystylism, balancing between the pathos of late romantic sound and expressive minimalism, contemplative lyrics and dramatic expression.

He is the author of works for orchestra of various sizes, including the Piano Concerto, Elegy for string orchestra and piano, Serenade for chamber orchestra, Dodeskaden for string orchestra, tempo blocks, tambourine and tam-tam, Funeral of Flies for violin, solo double bass and string orchestra, Little Night Music for voice, trombone, piano and string orchestra. He has composed a number of instrumental works, in particular for piano: the dodecaphonic virtuoso work Kitsch-musik, polyphonic compositions Fugue and Postlude and Circles, the cycle Five Bagatelles, the cycle Asteroids. Musical objects for white and some for black keys", for two instruments: "Forest" for violin and piano, "Feeling Cold" for flute and piano, "CAGE" for violin and piano. He is the author of vocal and instrumental works, including "Songs of the Evening Dawn" based on poems by Borys Hrinchenko, "Three Songs on Poems by M. Basio" for voice, flute, clarinet, piano and bells, etc.
