Vovchak Ihor Mykhailovych

1960

Ihor Mykhailovych Vovchak (born 5 June 1960, Ternopil) is a Ukrainian singer, composer, and teacher.
He graduated from Ternopil Secondary School No. 13, Ternopil Children's Music School, accordion class, Department of Folk Instruments of Terebovlia Cultural and Educational School (1980, now College of Culture and Arts), Kyiv University of Culture and Arts (1986).

During his military service, he created and led a pop band, was a radio and cinema mechanic, and took care of the military band (1980-1982).

In 1982-1984, he studied at the Kyiv State Institute of Culture, Department of Orchestral Conducting.

Worked as:

music teacher at a secondary school in Zaporizhzhia, accompanist of a dance group (1986-1987),
music teacher at Ternopil Secondary School No. 18 (1987-1989).
soloist of the Orchestra of Freedom in Ternopil (1993-1995). Ternopil (1993-1995).
Creativity.
The author of songs based on the lyrics by Borys Demkiv, Volodymyr Vykhrushch, Mykola Syngaievskyi, Stepan Halabarda, Mykola Lukiv, Yosyp Fishtyk, Mykhailo Levytskyi, Stanislav Shevchenko, Natalia Zubytska, Nina Omriiana-Bai, Heorhiy Petruk-Popyk, Yevhen Zozuliak, Volodymyr Prysiazhnyi, Valerii Zaliznyi, Yaroslav Pavuliak, Lesia Liubarska, Vasyl Yarmush.

He has written about 300 songs. He has released 4 audio albums and 4 CDs with his own songs.

He wrote many songs based on the poems of Shevchenko Prize winner Dmytro Lutsenko. His work also includes songs written to the words of classical poets: Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, Oleksandr Oles, Volodymyr Siusiura.

He has participated in many festivals and creative meetings in Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions, such as: "Zbruch - the River of Unity" and "White Bank" - dedicated to the victory in the Battle of Zboriv.

1989-2003 - head of the guitar group at the Children's Art Centre in Ternopil.

From 2001 to 2002, he was a soloist-vocalist of the Ternopil Regional Philharmonic.

Since 2012, he has been a guitar teacher at the Ostrovska Music School and a soloist of the amateur orchestra "Dolya" of the Ternopil District House of Culture.

He worked closely with Anatolii Horchynskyi. He participated in national and regional radio and television programmes:

"Song of the Year",
"Starry Time",
"From Saturday to Saturday",
"Family",
"And again meetings",
"Let's Respect Friends" and many others.
Three collections of songs have been published:

Songs for Children "Golden Years" (2007)
"Frank's Well" (2012) in collaboration with the poet-songwriter Yosyp Fishtyk
"On the Wings of Melodies" (2019).
Many of Ihor Vovchak's songs were included in collections:

"With Ukraine in the Heart" by Volodymyr Vykhrushch,
"Melodies of the Blackthorn Field".

Laureate of international and all-Ukrainian pop song competitions,
laureate of the international TV festival "Romances of Slavutych" (1993),
All-Ukrainian festival "Boromlya" (1995),
All-Ukrainian festival "Through the Thorns to the Stars" (1997),
D. Lutsenko Literary and Art Prize "Autumn Gold" (2003).
