Vodovozov Albert Fedorovich

Albert Fedorovich Vodovozov (* April 3, 1932, Olkhovka, possibly Vilkhove, Stanychno-Luhansk district, Luhansk region), Ukrainian composer, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR - 1989.
His father was repressed, and his mother, who worked in a mine, raised the children. He studied at the Luhansk Music College, where his teacher was H. Arkhangelsky - wind instruments and composition. In 1956, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory, where he studied with M. Vilinsky.

Since 1956, he has been working as a teacher at the Donetsk Music College; with his help, the composing department and an elective course were opened, where classes with beginning composers were held.

In 1956-1960, he directed the Donbas Miners' Song and Dance Ensemble, and in 1963-1964, he worked as a sound engineer at the Donetsk Television Studio. In 1970-1983, he headed the Donetsk regional organization of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.

He is the author of vocal, instrumental, symphonic works, concertos for organ, vocal and symphonic triptych "Return", music for theatrical performances. He wrote the symphonic poem "Prometheus" (1956, second edition - 1972), "Holiday in Donbas" (1964, 2nd edition - 1968), "Youth Holiday Overture" (1969), the heroic poem "Krasnodontsi" (1971), and a cycle of piano pieces "Vesnianky" (Freckles).

Author of songs about Donbas: "Miner's Land", "Donetsk Roses", "My Marigold Girls", "I Was Born in Donbas", "Miner of the Country of Soviets", "March of Soviet Slaughterers", "Miner's Women".

He composed works for voice and orchestra: "Ballad of a Worker" (1969), lyrics by Y. Smeliakov, "Spring Ode to Lenin" (1970), lyrics by V. Bokov, "Order-bearing Donetsk Region" (1971), lyrics by V. Shutov; Concerto for piano and orchestra - 1967, Romantic Poem for orchestra - 1968, Variations in Basso Austinato - 1972, Divertimento for string quartet - 1968, Sonata for piano - 1955, Indian Dance for small symphony orchestra - 1970, "Transcarpathian Dance" - 1970, "Argentine Carnival" - 1971, "Friendship of Peoples" - 1971, for an orchestra of folk instruments - two variations for accordions with orchestra - 1965, fantasy on the themes of songs by P. Maiboroda for pop orchestra - 1956, Waltz Boston - 1964, Merry Walk - 1964, romances - Swan Song, 1969, Without You - 1971, both with lyrics by K. Drok, five preludes, four fugues.
