Modest Petrovych Vitoshynskyi (1856-1901) was a Ukrainian singer (baritone); brother of Anton Vitoshynskyi; soloist of the Anatol Vakhnyanyn Lviv Men's Choir, the choirs of the Lyutnia and Boyan societies.
Biography.
He studied vocals at the Conservatory of the Galician Music Society (now the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy), where his teacher was opera singer Valeriy Vysotsky.
From 1870, he performed solo parts in the men's choir conducted by Vakhnyanyn, and a few years later - in the choirs of the Lyutnia (1884-1890) and Boyan (1891-1892) societies. In 1893-1900, he performed in a choir in Kyiv.
On the theatre stages of Lviv and Kyiv, he performed, in particular, solo parts from such works as "Zaporozhets Beyond the Danube", "Kupalo" by Anatolii Vakhnyanyn, and "Natalka Poltavka". He performed romances by Nestor Nyzhankivskyi, Denys Sichynskyi, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
He performed on stage with Panteleimon Borkovsky, M. Levytsky, and Solomiya Krushelnytska.
