Vermenich Volodymyr Mykolayovych

1925-1986

Ukrainian composer, choral conductor, teacher.

Biography.

In 1934, the family moved to Horlivka, then to the town of Sorokyne. In evacuation to the Urals, he first worked at a military factory, then entered a music school. His abilities were noticed during the draft and he was sent to the music team. In 1943, he wrote his first song, which he dared to show to others. After the war, he graduated from a music school in Luhansk.

He graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory with a degree in choral conducting (1954) and composition (1970). He taught singing and directed choirs at schools in Kyiv (1952-1960) and at the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute (1963-1965). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1976). Member of the UWC.
