Bohdan Ivanovych Vakhnyanyn (b. November 16, 1883, Stryi, now Lviv region - January 18, 1940, Lviv) was a composer, conductor, public and musical figure. Nephew of A. Vakhnyanyn.
Graduated from the Higher Music Institute in Lviv (1909; piano class of M. Krynytska, music theory and composition class of A. Vakhnyanyn, S. Liudkevych), and at the same time in 1905-1910 he was a free student of Lviv University, where in 1905 he became one of the founders and chief conductor of the student men's choir "Banduryst" (1929-1932 he directed this choir). 1910-1929 he worked as a teacher in gymnasiums and music schools in Lviv region. In 1924, in Przemysl (now Poland), he founded and headed a branch of the Higher Music Institute, was the director and conductor of the Boyan Society Choir.
He is the author of research on the musical life of Western Ukraine. He compiled a collection of songs "Zakuvala Zozulenka" (Lviv, 1938).
He is buried in the family grave on the 72nd field of Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
His wife is Iryna, his son Ivan was born on April 6, 1918 in Przemysl[1].

Musical paintings based on the poem "Haidamaky" by Taras Shevchenko - "The Tyrant" (1906) and "The Swan" (1937); "Ukrainian Nativity Scene" (1933); operettas - "Orysia", "Cinderella" (unfinished). ); for piano - "Vesnivka", "Dumka", "Kozachok" (all - 1900); choirs, in particular, to Taras Shevchenko's poems "Dumka" (from the poem "Slave"), "Vyshnevyi Sadok"; solos to the words of P. Hrabovsky, S. Charnetsky; arrangements of folk songs.
