Turets Volodymyr Hryhorovych (31 May 1945, Kurylivtsi village, Zhmerynka district - 8 June 2012, Kozyn village, Obukhiv district) - Ukrainian singer. People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1988).
Biography.
He was born on 31 May 1945 in the village of Kurylivtsi, Vinnytsia region.
In 1971, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (class of V. Kozeratsky). While still a student at the Conservatory, he received an invitation to work in the H. Veriovka Ukrainian Folk Choir.
For 37 years, he worked as a soloist of the famous Academic Ukrainian Folk Choir named after H. Veriovka.
Since 2000, he has been a professor and vocal teacher at the Institute of Music Education of the Jan Kochanowski University of Swietokrzyskie in Kielce, Poland.
Volodymyr Turets lived in Kyiv. He was married, had a son and two grandsons. His wife is Turets Valentyna Antonivna, born in 1949. Son - Turets Vladyslav Volodymyrovych, born in 1981. Grandsons Taras and Bohdan, born in 2007.
Creative path
The singer's repertoire includes classical music, Ukrainian folk songs, romances, works by O. Bilash, P. Maiboroda, I. Shamo and others, which have become favourites for many listeners not only in Ukraine but also abroad.
A TV film "The Secret of Love" and a music film "Colours of Ukraine" were made about the singer's career.
He has also recorded several CDs: "A Song for You...", "My Native Land".
