Tsymbalyuk Oleksandr

1976

Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk (born 1976 in Odesa) is an Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Ukrainian opera singer, bass with a velvety timbre. He has been a guest soloist with the National Opera of Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera (USA), La Scala in Milan, London's Covent Garden Theatre, Copenhagen Opera House (Denmark), the Bavarian State Opera (Germany), the German State Opera (Germany), the Bolshoi Theatre (Russia) and other renowned theatres.
Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk started studying music at the age of five. In 1995, he entered the A. V. Nezhdanova National Music Academy in Odesa, where he graduated in 2003 with a Master's degree in Vocal Art. In 2000, he was accepted as a soloist at the Odesa Opera House. From 2001 to 2003, Tsymbaliuk was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera, and in the 2003/04 season he was transferred to the permanent staff. Since then, he has performed on the stages of many theatres in Europe, Japan, the USA and Canada. The singer sings in operas in six languages.

Oleksandr has successfully worked with such conductors as Zubin Mehta, Lauryn Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, Colin Davis, Antonio Pappano, Nicola Luisotti, Kent Nagano, Gustavo Dudamel, Ricardo Shai, Ivor Bolton, Edward Gardner, Antonello Manacorda, Daniele Rustioni, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Vasyl Petrenko and Kirill Petrenko, Evelino Pido, Simone Young. Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk first sang on the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine in 2015 as part of the project "Ukrainian Opera Stars in the World", initiated by the theatre's chief director Anatolii Solovianenko.

In 2008, he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine.

1996 - 1st prize at the All-Ukrainian competition under the programme of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation "New Names of Ukraine" in Kyiv (Ukraine)
1998 - 2nd prize at the International Antonín Dvořák[cs] Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic
1999 - 2nd prize at the International Competition of Young Opera Singers in Kharkiv, Ukraine
2000 - 1st prize at the Mikulas Schneider-Trnavsky International Vocal Competition[cs] in Trnava (Slovenia)
2006 - 1st prize at the V International Competition of Young Opera Singers named after Elena Obraztsova in Moscow (Russia)
2007 - 1st prize at the Riccardo Zandonai International Competition for Young Opera Singers in Riva del Garda (Concorso Internazionale Riccardo Zandonai per giovani cantanti lirici, Italy)
2007 - First prize among singers at the XIII International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (Russia)
