Tretyak Vasyl Yakovych

1926-1989

Ukrainian Soviet singer (dramatic tenor), People's Artist of the USSR (1980). People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1967).

Biography.

He was born on December 6, 1926 in Eastern Slobozhanshchyna, in the village of Komarivtsi (now Korenivka district, Kursk region). The newspaper "Day" writes about his childhood:
"There were many paradoxes in the life of the outstanding Ukrainian singer Vasyl Tretyak. In particular, he was the only one of a large Ukrainian family to be registered as a Russian, as he was born in the Kursk region. However, in his childhood, the future artist found himself in Poltava region, and his entire life was closely connected with Ukraine. "

He has been a member of the CPSU since 1952. In 1953-1958 he studied at the Kharkiv Conservatory in the class of Professor T. Weske.

In 1958-1962, he was a soloist at the Moldavian Opera House, and in 1962-1989, at the Kyiv Opera House. He is a dramatic tenor.

From 1976 to 1989, he was a lecturer at the Kyiv Conservatory (since 1985 - associate professor). Among his students are M. Didyk, V. Reva, V. Poltorak, I. Tkachenko.

He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.

Vasyl Tretiak died on April 16, 1989. He was buried in Kyiv at the Baikove cemetery (plot No. 52).

He toured Cuba, Romania, Poland, Spain, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Yugoslavia, and other countries.
