Ivan Kornylovych Totskyi (1896-1957) was a bass (bass-cantante) singer. People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1948). Husband of the singer Melitina (Tina) Lozynska.
General information
Born in the village of Buyanychi near Mogilev.
After graduating from high school, he entered the Law Faculty of Kharkiv University, but due to financial difficulties, he did not continue his studies - he joined the army and sang in the regimental choir.
In 1920-1929, he studied at the Kyiv Conservatory (class of M. Chistiakov). During his studies, he worked as a soloist in the Dumka Chapel.
Soloist of the Kharkiv (1925-27), Odesa (1924-41 and 1946-51) and Leningrad (1943-45) operas.
