Tolstyakov Pavel

Pavlo Nylovych Tolstyakoŭ (* 16 December (28 December) 1880, Moscow - † 25 May 1938) was a Ukrainian opera composer and choral conductor. He was also a folklorist.

Biography.
Graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory.

He was a chorus master at the Mariinsky (since 1912), Kharkiv (1921-1933) and Odesa (since 1933) opera houses.

His creative work includes choral compositions ("Song of the Forge"), works for piano, and arrangements of 20 Ukrainian folk songs. He is the author of film scores: "Downpour" (1929), "Perekop" (1930), "Koliivshchyna" (1931), "Prometheus" (1936, in collaboration with A. Balanchyvadze), etc.
