Oleksandr Tyshchenko (* 29 July 1961, Kyiv) is a Ukrainian musician, composer, singer, poet and producer. He is the founder and lead singer of the band Winter Garden. Laureate of the Chervona Ruta-89, Yalta-90 and Vilnius-92 festivals, Honoured Artist of Ukraine.
He was born on 29 July 1961 in Kyiv into a family of musicians. His father is a choral conductor, his mother is an opera singer.
From the age of four, he studied at Music School No. 5.
He graduated from the R. M. Glière Kyiv State Higher Music College and the P. I. Tchaikovsky Kyiv Conservatory.
He worked as an academic musician (pianist, conductor and composer).
In April 1980, on the initiative of Oleksandr Tyshchenko, the art-rock band Winter Garden was founded at the Glier Music School in Kyiv. The Winter Garden began its professional career at the Khabarovsk Philharmonic, actively touring Siberia and the Far East. After their first record was accidentally broadcast on Western radio, the band was fired from the Philharmonic.
Oleksandr Tyshchenko headed the Cheremosh vocal group (Chernivtsi) and also founded the Ellipse band, in which he was the soloist of Aurika Rotaru.
In 1987, Oleksandr revived the Winter Garden band at the Donetsk Philharmonic, which moved to Kyiv in 1988. Zymovyi Sad became a laureate of the Interchance-89 festival and took third place at Chervona Ruta-89 in Chernivtsi. The band recorded 4 albums and toured Ukraine, Russia, Poland, the USA and Canada.
In 1990, Oleksandr Tyshchenko temporarily stopped performing in the Winter Garden and began his solo career. As a solo musician, he became a laureate of many festivals, including Yalta-90, Vilnius-92, Song of the Year-97 (Moscow), and a diploma winner at the Slavic Bazaar-92. He has recorded 8 audio albums and shot 7 video clips.
As a composer, Oleksandr Tyshchenko has collaborated with T. Povaliy, A. Rotaru, I. Bilyk, I. Skazina, T. Zhytynsky, Vitaliy and Svitlana Bilonozhka, E. Vlasova, O. Polyakova, Natanika, I. Ponarovska, SAVA, A. Popova, D. Anin, and Nicole.
His songs have won many festivals and competitions. He is the winner of the popularity rating Wheel of Fortune-96 as the best composer, arranger and performer.
He is the author of music for films and musicals.
At the beginning of 1991, he worked on a new project of the American singer DENYLN as a composer and arranger.
In the same year, he was invited to the first beauty contest after the proclamation of Ukraine's independence - "Prykarpatska Krasunya - 91", which took place in Ivano-Frankivsk.
In 1995, he composed the symphonic oratorio "Destiny" based on the words of Taras Shevchenko and orchestrated and recorded "Riflemen's Songs" performed by the Revutsky Academic Choir.
In the winter of 2014, at the Winter Garden studio, he composed and recorded the song "Let's Light Up, Brother, Alone" dedicated to the Heavenly Hundred of Ukraine, which was included in the documentary film "Heavenly Hundred of Prykarpattia" by director and lyricist Myroslav Boichuk.
