Teplyy Yaroslav Vasilyevich

Yaroslav Vasylovych Teplyi (Teplyi, Teply, Cieply) (18 July 1961, Ivano-Frankivsk) is a Ukrainian composer, writer, poet, ethnographer, ethnologist, musicologist, choirmaster, singer, and public figure. Author and director of cultural and social communication projects.

Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2015)
He was born on 18 July 1961 in Ivano-Frankivsk.

In 1976-1979, he studied at the Zhytomyr Cultural and Educational School;

In 1987, he graduated from the Rivne State Institute of Culture with a degree in folk choir director and choirmaster;

In 1986-1991, he was the director and choirmaster of the Polissia Song and Dance Ensemble of the Zhytomyr City Music and Drama Centre and the choirmaster of the North Kuril Song and Dance Ensemble of the Sakhalin Oblast;

since 1982, he has been the organiser, artistic director and soloist of the legendary and world-famous artistic formation of the Tepli Duet (Honoured Artists of Ukraine Yaroslav and Valentyna Tepli) - the duet "Chervone ta Chorne".

Artistic activity
The artistic formation - the grand show duo "Red and Black" consisting of Valentina and Yaroslav Teply - is a laureate of numerous International and All-Ukrainian song competitions and festivals.

Among them: International Festival of Family Creativity "Melody of Two Hearts" (2000), winner of the International Festival of Ukrainian Culture in Sopot (Poland).

As a composer, Teplyy won the All-Ukrainian competition of tragic songs "Cranes flew to Chernobyl". His vocal works are included in the collections "Song embroidered fate", "Worries of the wounded kobza" published by the publishing house "Musical Ukraine". The songs of Teplyy Y. V. have been and are performed by many artists. Among them are People's Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Zinkevych, winner of international competitions Valeriy Shumsky, the State Academic Siberian Russian Folk Choir[ru] and other performers and groups.

The piece based on the poems of Hanna Chubach, CHERNOBYL MADONNA, performed by the duo "Red and Black", was included in the "Golden Fund" of Ukrainian Radio.

Teplyy Y. V. and the duo "Chervone ta Chorne" are honoured guests and participants of the All-Ukrainian and international festivals of Lemko culture (Bells of Lemkivshchyna, Green Sunday Calls Us, I'm Coming to You, Native Land, etc. (Ukraine), Lemkivska Vatra, Nad Oslava, Lemkivskyi Kermesh in Vilkhivka, Bieszczadzkie Anioły, XI Folk Festivals at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Asuny (Poland), etc.)

From 2002 to 2009, he was the organiser, director, scriptwriter and host of the Polissia Literary and Musical Festival in honour of internationalist soldiers "Shot Youth", which is held on the anniversary of the withdrawal of the former USSR troops from the Republic of Afghanistan and the Day of Honouring Participants in Combat Operations in Other Countries.

Since 2010, the festival has had the status of All-Ukrainian.

Member of the National All-Ukrainian Music Union.

Member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the online edition of the National Lemko Portal of Ukraine LEMKY.COM [Archived 11 January 2013 at the Wayback Machine].

As a collector of the song heritage of the unique Ukrainian subethnic group - Lemkos-Rusyns and as the author of many songs that have already become folk songs, Teplyy recorded together with his wife Teplya Valentyna Stepanivna and released audio albums and CDs.
Awards
2015 - By the Decree of the President of Ukraine, he was awarded the honorary title "Honoured Artist of Ukraine"
