Ukrainian Soviet conductor, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1937), Honored Artist of the Georgian SSR (1924).
Biography.
He began his musical career in Irkutsk.
In 1905, he studied conducting in Moscow under the direction of V. Safonov. He worked in the opera company of the Moscow People's House. Later he worked in Krasnoyarsk, Perm, Vladivostok and other cities of Russia.
1919-1927 - conductor of the opera houses of Tbilisi and Baku.
1927-1944 - Chief Conductor of the Odesa Opera House.
1944-1949 - Chief Conductor of the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theater.
