Stinkovyi Taras Dmytrovych

1941-2014

Teacher, choral conductor, musician, cultural and public figure of Bukovyna.

Biography.

He was born into a family of teachers.

From 1947 to 1957, he studied at schools #17, 19 in Chernivtsi. Chernivtsi.

In 1960, he graduated with honors from the Chernivtsi Pedagogical College (first graduate of the music department).

He worked as a teacher of singing and music in Chernivtsi boarding schools No. 1 and No. 2.

From December 1961 to August 1964, he served in the Soviet Army's railroad troops.

In 1966-1971, he studied at the Tchaikovsky Kyiv State Conservatory at the conducting and choral faculty.

After graduating from the conservatory, he was sent to work at the Chernivtsi Pedagogical School (now the Pedagogical College of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University) as a teacher of choral class and conducting. Taras Stinkovyi worked in this institution for 42 years as a teacher of choral class and conducting, music-theoretical disciplines, and head of the music department.

From 1972 to 1978, Taras Stinkovyi worked as the head of the Music Department, chairman of the subject-methodical commission of teachers of conducting and choir class, head of the office of the choir class and conducting.

In 1972, he organized the women's choir of the Pedagogical College, which he directed until 1981. In 1975, he organized a chamber choir of teachers of the pedagogical school.

From 1981 until the last days of his life, Taras Dmytrovych led a mixed choir of students of the Music Department, which in 2003 received the title of "folk art collective", and from 1986 he led the men's choir "Dzvin" of teachers and staff of Chernivtsi University.

In 1992, T. Stinkovyi participated in the opening of the Department of Music at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi State University, first as the head of the conducting and choral class, and later as a part-time teacher.

From 1994 to 1995, he worked in the Republic of Croatia with Ukrainian and Croatian choirs.

In 1995, he took an active part in the creation of the vocal and instrumental group of teachers of the Pedagogical College "Dzherelo" as a choirmaster and a member of the group, which in 2000 received the title of "folk group".

In 1991-1993, T. Stinkovyi was elected chairman of the public committee of the Chernivtsi neighborhood "Lenkivtsi".

He is a permanent member of the jury of the S. Vorobkevych choral competitions and the festival of amateur art "Chysti Rosy", a member of the All-Ukrainian National Music Union (since 1991), a member of the certification commission of the regional department of culture, and the head of the regional association of the Mykola Leontovych Choral Society.
