Stilmachenko Sergei

1971

Serhiy Petrovych Stilmashenko (21 April 1971, Kharkiv) is a Ukrainian opera singer, currently working in France at the Grand Opera. He has a baritone-tenor voice.

Biography.
Serhiy was born in Kharkiv. His mother is a soloist of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Larysa Stilmashenko. She noticed her son's vocal abilities early on, which he developed at first in the children's studio at the Kharkiv State Institute of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky (now Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky). Then he was a student of this university. As a graduate of the institute, he became a soloist at the Lysenko Kharkiv Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (now the Mykola Lysenko Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre).

Serhiy has shown himself to be a great performer at a number of international competitions, including the Rosa Ponsel International Vocal Competition (1994), where he received a grant for study.

The singer has trained in the USA and Canada, in European countries, and is currently working in France (since 2001), having sung leading roles in hundreds of opera performances by the time he turned forty.

Performances in Kharkiv
The singer collaborated with the first professional youth orchestra in Ukraine - the Slobozhansky Youth Orchestra from Kharkiv.

Spring 2009 - Stilmashenko gave a recital at the Kharkiv Philharmonic.

On 29 August 2009, Sergei opened the "Kings of Ratings" campaign initiated by the Kharkiv Philharmonic with a concert at the Kharkiv Philharmonic. The maestro performed arias from the operas The Barber of Seville by G. Rossini, Carmen by G. Bizet, Iolanta by P. Tchaikovsky, Rigoletto by G. Verdi.

On 17 March 2013, Sergey Stilmashenko performed again in Kharkiv at the Superior Hall (Superior Golf Club). As part of the Opera Night project, the Ukrainian, accompanied by the Kharkiv Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Yuriy Yanko), sang arias from Tchaikovsky's and Leoncavallo's operas, Kalman's operettas, and Neapolitan songs for his fellow countrymen. The audience was also treated to exquisite European cuisine. A ticket cost about $100.

Preferences.
His favourite opera composer is Verdi, the singer reads Viktor Pelevin, and goes in for sports. He likes yoga, Pilates, i.e. sports that strengthen the internal muscles of the body, which are most necessary for a singer.

On food.

Sergiy has been a vegetarian for many years, with some deviations into poultry and fish. Now he is trying to switch to raw food.
