Steshenko Ivan Nikiforovich

Ivan Nikiforovych Steshenko (21 January 1894, Lebedyn - 3 May 1937, Kharkiv) was an opera bass singer.

Biography.
He studied singing in St. Petersburg and Italy with the assistance of Counts Vasyl and Oleksiy Kapnist[1], and has been on stage since 1914 (he made his debut in Bergamo). In 1917-1921, he was a soloist at the Kyiv Opera, and in 1932-1934 - at the Kharkiv Opera. In 1921-1932, he toured Poland, Italy, England, France, and the USA. In 1934-1937 he was a soloist of the Kharkiv Philharmonic. Best parts: Taras Bulba, Mephistopheles, Boris Godunov (in operas of the same name by Mykola Lysenko, A. Boito, M. Mussorgsky), Galitsky (Prince Igor by A. Borodin), Zarastro (The Magic Flute by W. A. Mozart), Doctor (Wozzeck by A. Berg), Don Basilio (The Barber of Seville by G. Rossini).
