Smyrny Grigory

Hryhorii (Hryts) Smyrnyi (* Dnipro region - † 1941, Lviv) was a Ukrainian bandura player.

He participated in the Liberation Movement of 1918-1920. He was interned in Kalisz, Poland. Later he moved to Prague, where he completed his studies at the Drahomanov Pedagogical Institute. After graduation, he moved to Lviv, where he taught. He taught bandura playing.

He took an active part in the bandura ensemble under the direction of Yurii Singalevych.

In 1941, before the withdrawal of Soviet troops, he was arrested and shot.

Several compositions and arrangements by this bandura player have been preserved in various collections in the diaspora.
