Shutenko Taisiia Ivanivna

1905-1975

Taisiia Ivanovna Shutenko (* 5 October 1905, Kharkiv - 15 September 1975, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian composer and teacher.

Biographical information
She was born in Kharkiv. In 1930, she graduated from the Music and Drama Institute (class of Semen Bohatyrev) and later from the Moscow Conservatory (1934-1937).

She taught at professional music schools and music courses in Kharkiv, and since 1956 in Kyiv.

Works for orchestra:
Symphony "Carmeluk" (1937),
"Overture",
String Quartet.
Works for folk instruments:
16 pieces for bandura.
Music for the plays
"Marusya Bohuslavka",
"Princess Victoria,
"Macbeth,
"Puss in Boots and others.
She wrote songs, in particular, to the lyrics of Ilya Berdnyk.
