Shermeister Leonid Yuliyovych

1921-1995

Ukrainian conductor, composer, teacher, Honored Worker of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR.

He graduated from the Faculty of Literature of the Melitopol Pedagogical Institute (1951) and the Kharkiv Institute of Culture (1963) with a degree in choral conducting.

Director of the Tavria Folk Choir of the Taras Shevchenko Palace of Culture (Melitopol), for 35 years he has been a teacher at the Melitopol School of Culture.

He is the author of music for more than 20 songs, including "Evening Melitopol", which became the city's anthem, "Remember, Tavria", "The River Molochnaya Flows" and others.

He was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor", a diploma of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, etc. Honorary citizen of Melitopol. Honored Worker of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR (1966)
