Ukrainian soloist-vocalist, tenor, professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Voice Training at the Drahomanov National Pedagogical University, Honored Artist of Ukraine.
Biography
Shcherbateiev Yakiv Fedorovych was born on January 1, 1945 in the village of Orativ, Orativ district, Vinnytsia region.
In 1989, he graduated from the Karpenko-Kary Theater University with a degree in Organization and Management of Theater.
In 1991, he graduated from the Tchaikovsky Kyiv State Conservatory with a degree in Solo Singing (tenor) (class of Professor of Arts and Culture of Ukraine S. Kozak).
From 1970 to 1985, he was a soloist of the State Bandura Choir of Ukraine. In 1985, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.
From 1985 to 1990, he was a soloist-vocalist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since 1991, he has worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, and associate professor. Since 2015, he has been a professor at the Department of Theory and Methods of Voice Training at the Drahomanov National Pedagogical University.
Creative interests
Yakiv Fedorovych's repertoire includes solo concert programs of works by Western European, Russian and Ukrainian classical composers, arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, and works by contemporary composers. He has toured Yugoslavia, France, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and the United States. For five years, he worked under contract in a group of solo vocalists in Germany.
Research interests
Vocal and performing activities of future music teachers, artistic reproduction of the musical image in vocal works. Teaches courses: individual lessons in Voice Training, Vocal, and Workshop on Qualification.
Under the creative guidance of Y. Shcherbateiev, students O. Biloshapka, V. Korshyk, L. Mychak, O. Lozbin, A. Maslakov, and I. Borko have repeatedly become winners of international and national competitions.
