Shcherbakov Ihor Volodymyrovych

Ukrainian composer. Honored Artist of Ukraine (1996), Member of the NSCU (since 1986), Secretary of the NSCU Board (since 1994), 3 1999 — Chairman of the Kyiv Organization of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, 3 2010 — Chairman of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, Laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine named after T. Shevchenko (1999). Corresponding member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2013), laureate of the All-Ukrainian Festival-competition "Composing Youth of Ukraine" (1990, 1st prize). Laureate of the Kyiv Municipal Award named after Artemiy Vedel.

Biography

Born in Dnipropetrovsk. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Music School and the Kyiv State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky (composition class of Vitaly Kireik).

Music editor, deputy editor-in-chief of the publishing house "Music Ukraine" (1985-92) — the initiator and music editor of numerous editions of classical and modern music, forgotten Ukrainian heritage. Since 1992, he has been a teacher of the Department of Composition and Instrumentation of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. Tchaikovsky, since 1994 — associate professor, since 2003 — professor. Organizer and music director of the festival "International Youth Music Forum" (1991–2000), "Music premieres of the season" (since 2000). Member of the National Union of Theater Actors of Ukraine (since 2001). The publishing house Carl Fischer Music (USA) has exclusive rights to publish the works of Igor Shcherbakov all over the world, except for Ukraine

Ihor Shcherbakov belongs to the generation of modern Ukrainian composers, whose creativity and spiritual orientation shaped the face of Ukrainian music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The creative style of the composer is marked by high spirituality, a wide semantic field of musical imagery, a special energy-filled intonation content, meditative expression, conceptual musical dramaturgy, exquisite orchestral palette, perfect mastery of musical form.
