He was born in 1993 in Kharkiv. He studied at the Kharkiv Specialised Music School (class of Professor Natalia Avramenko) and at the Ivan Kotliarevskyi Kharkiv National University of Arts (class of Professor Tetiana Verkina). He is currently a postgraduate student at the Department of Interpretation and Music Analysis.
Maksym is a winner of many international competitions. Among them are the Volodymyr Krainev International Competition for Young Pianists (2004, Ukraine - second prize), the Night in Madrid International Competition (2014, Spain - first prize), the International Competition in Memory of Boris Lyatoshynsky (2014, France - special prize), the First Open Competition "Kharkiv Assemblies" (2016, Ukraine - first prize), the Kyiv International Piano Competition (2018, Ukraine - second prize).
In 2013 and 2014, the musician was a co-organiser of the International Festival for Young Composers and Performers "Days of New Music in Kharkiv".
Maksym Shadko has performed as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Slobozhansky Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2023, the pianist has been a soloist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
The pianist regularly participates in masterclasses by professors Dmitriy Alekseev, Pavel Gililov, Sergei Edelman, Wolfgang Manz, Giuliano Mazzocante, Lev Natochenny, Milana Cherniavska, as well as in masterclasses at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music.
Since 2018, he has received grant support from the VERE MUSIC FUND.
