Sevastyanov Boris Alexandrovich

1983

Boris Aleksandrovich Sevastyanov (1 April 1983, Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR, USSR) is a Ukrainian composer and arranger, singer, writer, volunteer, and public figure.

He is known for his hits "This, Baby, is Rashism", "Grads", "Take Me, Mama" and others, which were inspired by the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict of 2014. He is the author of the music for the song "Prayer" (lyrics by Dzvinka Torokhtushko), which is considered the unofficial anthem of modern military chaplains
He started writing music from early childhood. He studied composition and piano at a music school.

In 2003, he graduated from the Kharkiv Music School (speciality "Music Theory", composition - class of V. M. Ptushkin).

In 2008, he graduated from the Kharkiv State University of Arts named after Ivan Kotliarevskyi (Conservatory) with a degree in Composition (class of V. M. Zolotukhin).

In 2010-2012, he worked as an arranger for the Yaroslav the Wise National University of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences of Ukraine brass band.

In 2012-2015, he worked as an arranger with the Virtuosos of Slobozhanshchyna Symphony Orchestra.

Since the summer of 2014, he has been regularly travelling to the ATO zone as a volunteer and singer-songwriter, giving about 600 concerts for the military and civilians. He also participates in many charity concerts and festivals.

In September 2017, he published the novel Monakh, set in the ATO zone and modern Kharkiv.

In 2020, the NAONI orchestra performed Borys's instrumental work Morning Rain.

In May 2021, the musical "The Chronicles of Narnia. The Secret of the Easter Code" to Borys's music was premiered in Kharkiv.

His works include piano and viola concertos, a symphony, instrumental and vocal pieces. He has repeatedly performed as a pianist-performer of his own works. He is the author of music for documentaries and feature films (Ukraine, Russia, Germany, USA), TV series, computer games, songwriter and arranger. He has recorded joint songs with the bands TaRUTA, Haydamaki, P@p@ Carlo, singer Ivan Ganzer, and poet Dmitry Lazutkin.

He is the author of the fan anthem for FC Metalist Kharkiv, We are Metalist fans.
Organiser of the Online School of Composition and Arrangement

According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 336/2016 of 19 August 2016, he was awarded the jubilee medal "25 Years of Independence of Ukraine".

His wife is a cellist Yulia Sevastianova. Dana, born in 2016.

Interesting facts
Several citizens in Russia have been convicted for posting Boris Sevastyanov's song "This, Baby, is Rashism" on social media.

The songs "Take Me, Mama" and "Magadan" are included in the list of extremist materials of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation under numbers 4888 and 4889.
