Sehin Bohdan Dariiovych

Bohdan Dariiovych Sehin (1976, Borshchiv) is a Ukrainian composer and music project manager.
He was born in 1976 in Borshchiv, Ternopil region. From 1991 to 1994, he studied at the Krushelnytska Ternopil State Music College, majoring in piano and music theory, and studied composition with B. Klymchuk. In 1999, he graduated from the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Music Institute (now the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy) with a degree in composition (class of Prof. M. Skoryk), and later (in 2002) completed an assistantship-training there (creative director - Prof. M. Skoryk).

At different times, he took consultations on music composition from A. Pärt, B. Furrer, O. Shchetynsky and others. Laureate of the Revutsky Prize (2004). Twice he was a participant of the scholarship programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland Gaude Polonia (in 2003 he was trained in Krakow by Zb. Bujarski and in 2006 - in Warsaw by Z. Krause). He is a scholarship holder of the Warsaw Autumn Friends Foundation (2003). He received a grant under the Gulliver Connect programme (2008) and a grant from the President of Ukraine (implemented in 2008-2010). Winner of several composing competitions in Ukraine. Member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine. The composer's music is constantly performed in Ukraine and abroad. The composer's work also includes music for more than ten theatre productions in Ukraine and Poland.

Bohdan Sehin has worked in the organising committees of contemporary music festivals in Lviv ("Contrasts" from 1998 to 2006; "Oksamytna Kurtyna" 2006) and Kyiv ("Kyiv Music Fest" 2009; International Forum "Music of the Young" 2009 and 2011). Since 2006, he has implemented a number of his own projects, in particular in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Kyiv, the Goethe-Institut, the Austrian Cultural Forum in Kyiv, the Czech Centre and the French Institute.

In 2009, he began coordinating the projects of Ensemble Nostri Temporis, and in 2010 he became the artistic director of this ensemble, which specialises in performing contemporary classical music. Since 2012, he has been organising the annual COURSE Kyiv International New Music Masterclasses. In 2011-12, he was a guest director of the International Forum "Music of the Young", within the framework of which he founded and held the first "Ukrainian Biennial of New Music" (held in Kyiv and Lviv in March 2013). At the same time, in 2012, Bohdan Sehin started working as a commercial director for the development of contemporary music at the Lviv Regional Philharmonic and as the executive director of the Contrasts International Contemporary Music Festival.
