Salivanov Oleg Grigorievich

Oleh Hryhorovych Salivanov (born 1 August 1958) is a Kyiv-based musician and songwriter, guitarist, leader of the band After the Rain, and guitar teacher. He has written about 200 Ukrainian and Russian-language songs, many pieces for classical guitar, chamber ensembles, and film scores. He is distinguished by the diversity of his compositions and virtuoso solo playing, and is a fine accompanist. He has in his archive both works from the cycle of folk music and works in the style of modern rock music. Performs European classics and blues parts. He writes and performs soul music. His songs are performed by: People's Artists of Ukraine Viktor Shportko, Oleksandr Vasylenko, Nadiia Shestak, Honoured Artists of Ukraine Inna Andriiash, Karina Plai, etc. He works as a guitar teacher and has an active concert career.

Concerts
On 20 November 2011, a landmark concert took place in the history of Ukraine's cultural life - a memorial evening for Ukrainian dissident poet Ivan Kovalenko and the presentation of the music album "I am happy because of that..." by Oleg and Victoria Salivanov. The concert was held in the Column Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, and featured works by Oleh Salivanov based on poems by Ivan Kovalenko, accompanied by the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments (artistic director and chief conductor - People's Artist of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National Prize winner Viktor Hutsal), the State Academic Variety and Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (chief conductor - Mykola Lysenko) and the Stanislav Pavlyuchenko Ukrainian Folk Choir of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. In total, more than 150 performers took part in the concert!

The crowded auditorium was attended by Ivan Kovalenko's daughter and grandchildren, his fellow Boyarka residents, dissidents Yevhen Sverstiuk and Vasyl Ovsiienko, representatives of Ukrainian music circles and prominent public figures.

The concert was recorded for a television version and broadcast on the Glas TV channel.

In addition to his regular concerts, Oleg Salivanov regularly participates in Yuriy Dubinsky's project "By Candlelight" - he holds concerts of guitar classics throughout the year, opening the world of musical harmony in the twilight of a theatre studio by candlelight, surrounded by the city's cultural elite.

After the Rain concerts are held at the best music venues in Kyiv. In the spring of 2012, a series of concerts took place at the Cotton Club jazz club, and an unusual performance took place at the BesedniZza art cafe [Archived 5 October 2012 at the Wayback Machine], which was posted on YouTube and social networks. The band consists of Oleg Salivanov (guitar, vocals), Valeriy Dubrovin (keyboards), Georgiy Povolotskiy (rhythm section, vocals), Sergey Skarbovsky (guitar, vocals).
Pedagogical activity
Oleg Salyvanov is a professional guitarist and teaches guitar at the Children's Music School No. 3 and the Children's Music School No. 31 in Kyiv. Among his students are winners of city, national and international competitions, professional guitarists.

He has his own method of teaching beginners. He constantly writes etudes and plays for his students. In 2012, he officially released music collections of his works for guitar and a collection of songs "I'm happy because of that...".

Projects and collaborations
Oleg Salivanov, as a producer, implements various projects: he records audio albums for performers, records author's albums for poets, organises solo concerts, organises song and guitar competitions, and provides consultations on production activities.
Oleg Salivanov's compositional talent is manifested in his songs based on his own poems and poems by classics of world literature. His archive of works includes songs and accompaniments to the works of Garcia Lorca, Marina Tsvetaeva, Ivan Kovalenko, and he actively collaborates with contemporary poets Yevhen Yevtushenko, Borys Oliynyk, Svitlana Suvorova, Tatiana Kovalchuk, Vitaliy Pryimachenko, and Oleg Nadeliaev.

He invites young gifted poets to cooperate.
