Romanovsky Alexander

Oleksandr Romanovskyi (born 21 August 1984, Dniprodzerzhynsk) is a Ukrainian pianist.

Biography.
He studied at the Kharkiv Secondary Specialised Music School (KSSMS) with Harry Lazarevych Helfgat. Since 1997, he studied at the Piano Academy Incontri col Maestro in Imola (Italy) with Leonid Margarius. In 2008 he graduated from the Royal College of Music in London (class of Dmitri Alekseev).

In 1996, he was awarded the Grand Prix at the Vladimir Krainev International Competition for Young Pianists (Ukraine), and in 2001 he won first prizes at the Busoni International Piano Competition and the Cantu International Piano Competition (both in Italy). In 2011, at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition, he won the IV prize and became the first winner of the Vladimir Krainev Special Prize.

He has played in many cities of Russia and Europe, performing with the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Gergiev, the Russian National Orchestra under the direction of Mikhail Pletnev, the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Fyodorov. Tchaikovsky under Vladimir Fedoseyev, as well as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles.

He has released four albums of recordings featuring works by Alexander Glazunov, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

At the 54th Grammy Awards, he was nominated in one of the classical categories.
