Ukrainian conductor, People's Artist of Ukraine (1997), holder of the Order of Merit 3a (2006) and the Order of St. Nestor the Chronicler of the UOC (2005), winner of the Golden Fortune international academic rating of popularity and quality (2002). Corresponding member of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts (St. Petersburg, Russia). Honorary citizen of Zaporizhzhia.
He was born in Makiivka. He graduated from the Mariupol State Music College, then from the Tchaikovsky Kyiv Conservatory in the class of Vadym Hnedash (1979 - Orchestra Faculty, 1986 - Faculty of Opera and Symphony Conducting). He was an intern in orchestras: The State Television and Radio Company of Ukraine, the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Orchestra of Northern Hungary (under the direction of People's Artist of Russia Professor Yuri Simonov, 1996). Since 1987, he has been the artistic director and chief conductor of the Zaporizhzhia Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
Under Viacheslav Redi's leadership, the orchestra became the center of Zaporizhzhia's musical culture, gaining the respect of both professionals and numerous music fans. This was facilitated by the maestro's generous musical talent, his high professionalism, artistry, organizational talent, and high efficiency. Since 2000, the conductor initiated the annual All-Ukrainian Festival of Children and Youth Art "Chords of Khortytsia" and the International Festival "Baroque and Avant-Garde" in Zaporizhzhia; he founded the concert series "New Names", "Young Musicians on Stage", and "Renaissance". The orchestra carries out extensive music education work among children and youth, giving more than 40 concerts annually for this audience, participates in well-known festivals in Ukraine and abroad (Kyiv Music Fest, Musical Spring in Hungary, the Opera Music Festival in North Korea, and others), and fruitfully collaborates with Ukrainian composers, holding author concerts and performing premiere works. In 2003, the ensemble was awarded the title of academic.
